Information Technology Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:

Working closely with Director of Information Technology and key stakeholders, the Information Technology Manager is responsible for planning, coordination, implementation, control and completion of software and hardware projects, aligned with the strategy, commitments, and goals of the organization. The Information Technology Manager is also responsible for managing the provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure, including all network, telecommunication, and end user systems, to ensure all systems and related procedures adhere to organizational values and enable staff to meet business needs and requirements of the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Works with the Director of IT in planning, scheduling, and implementing major initiatives. Manages projects by defining scope, goals, deliverables, tasks, and required resources; allocating project resources; creating schedule and project timelines; tracking deliverables and monitoring and reporting on project progress; evaluating and assessing results of project
• Maintains organization’s effectiveness and efficiency by researching, recommending and delivering strategies, policies, and procedures for implementing and enhancing information technologies
• Manages on-going cybersecurity initiatives including vulnerability scanning and remediation
• Conducts system audits of implemented technologies for compliance and effectiveness, making recommendations for improvement
• Secures systems by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation structures, establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and back-up procedures and maintaining information security policies, procedures, and documentation
• Creates, maintains, and documents standard operating procedures and guides for the IT department and organizational staff including, though not limited to, installation, configuration, usage procedures, and best practices
• Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; escalating problems to vendors when applicable
• Verifies the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
• Maintains and tests Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity systems
• Manages maintenance of data center environmental and monitoring equipment
• Manages and mentors technical staff
• Prepares all users by organizing and/or conducting training and educational awareness programs in relevant IT areas such as cybersecurity threats, IT policies and procedures, compliance, and software and hardware in use. Develops and provides reference materials and support documentation
• Provides Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigates and troubleshoots issues
• Manages administration of data and telecommunications operations for the Carpenters Training Center
• Interfaces with contractors performing data and power work at the Benefit Funds, District Council and Carpenters Training Center offices

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications
• Ten (10) plus years hands on IT experience including computer networks, network administration and network installation
• At least (5) years of IT management experience
• Cybersecurity experience a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, technical, and analytical skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent time management skills

• VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, Cisco Security. Cisco Networking
• Windows Desktop Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000.

F/T General Carpenter Instructor

POSITION PURPOSE:

The New York City District Council of Carpenters Training Center is seeking a full-time instructor with a minimum of 10-15 years’ work experience in carpentry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in carpentry and a passion for teaching. This role involves instructing students in various carpentry techniques, pre-apprenticeship, and OSHA safety standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Organize and present program of practical and technical instruction on carpentry principles, means and methods, including demonstrations of skills required in trade, and lectures on theory, techniques, and terminology. Plan and supervise work of apprentices, individually or in small groups. Observe apprentices and answer apprentice questions.
• Instruct apprentices in subject areas such as tool and equipment maintenance, building codes and regulations and safety precautions related to carpentry.
• Instruct journey level members, implementing course material, and maintaining cohesive multi­level group dynamics.
• Maintain inventory and equipment records within assigned classroom and workspace.
• Assure that all students abide by the guidelines, policies and rules and regulations as set by the Carpenters Training Center.
• Test and evaluate achievement of students in technical knowledge and trade skills.
• Maintain attendance records, and task sheets. Add new projects in coordination with administration including any new products or technologies new to the market.
• Recommend or suggest changes for the improvement of the training program.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven experience as a carpenter with a strong understanding of carpentry principles and practices.
• Previous teaching or training experience is preferred.
• OSHA certification is required.
• Demonstrates a solid understanding of commercial construction in NYC.
• Skilled in prioritizing and assigning work; preparing reports; adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
• Willing to and possesses the ability to be cross trained in all areas of carpentry and health and safety courses.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Must be willing to attend training classes at the UBC ITC in Las Vegas.

The current need is for someone with STICK (SMAW) welding experience on Stainless Steel and Structural Steel. Any TIG (GTAW) and MIG/FLUX-CORE (GMAW/FCAW) experience is a bonus. This is an excellent opportunity for a trade professional to help develop the next generation of union Millwrights, Dockbuilders and Carpenters with specialized skills in welding, cutting and fabrication.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach hands-on classes in STICK (SMAW) for Stainless Steels and other materials. Other welding techniques and processes in our curriculum could be added to future classes under your supervision.
• Provide instruction on proper safety procedures, equipment setup, and maintenance.
• Introduce apprentices and journey-level members to blueprint reading and layout related to stainless steel fabrication.
• Reinforce industry best practices and union standards.
• Support learners with varying skill levels in both classroom and shop environments.

• Journey-level Millwright, Dockbuilder/Timberman or Carpenter with relevant welding experience to our trade.
