On Wednesday, June 5th, the Board of Trustees celebrated the twenty-five recipients of the Charles Johnson Jr. Memorial Scholarship at a luncheon in Manhattan. Each year, the NYCDCC Welfare Fund offers a Scholarship Program (known as the “Charles Johnson Jr. Memorial Scholarship”) for unmarried, dependent, biological, or adopted children of eligible members. The Scholarship Program pays up to $3,500 for each year of a four-year academic program at an accredited college or university, or until the child receives a bachelor’s degree, whichever occurs first. The maximum amount of the award is $14,000 per student.
This year’s luncheon highlighted the students’ range of achievements, including their community service, extracurricular leadership, and dedication to their studies. Several members of the Board of Trustees spoke, offering words of encouragement and excitement to the college-bound students, as well as their parents. The celebration was a great example of the positive impacts the NYCDCC has in our communities and the bright future it looks to build.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, congratulations to this year’s Charles Johnson Jr. Memorial Scholarship winners!
