The New York City District Council of Carpenters Welfare Fund is pleased to announce an increase in available Charles Johnson Jr. Memorial Scholarships for 2014. “Qualifying Children” of the membership will now have an opportunity to receive 1 of 25 available scholarships. The previous amount available was 10. This means there are now 15 more scholarships available this year!
If you applied for a scholarship on behalf of your child for this year (the application was due by December 15, 2013), your child now has an even better chance of obtaining a scholarship through the Fund.
Each year, “Qualifying Children” who are in their senior year of high school are eligible to apply. Winners receive $3,500.00 per year over a four year span toward their college tuition.
If you didn’t apply for the Charles Johnson Jr. Memorial Scholarship this year, you may still be eligible to apply for a scholarship through one of the other entities listed on our website such as your local union or the New York Building Industry Scholarship Program.
