The Board of Trustees of the New York City District Council of Carpenters (“NYCDCC”) Benefit Funds has announced the retirement of current Executive Director Dave Stewart, and the appointment of current Director of Administrative Services, Kristin O’Brien, as Mr. Stewart’s successor, effective September 8, 2020. Mr. Stewart will be staying on for a period after the effective date to ensure a smooth transition.
The announcement of the new Executive Director comes after an exhaustive search involving a number of talented and experienced candidates. Ultimately, the Board of Trustees’ decision to select Ms. O’Brien was attributed to her skills, intelligence, experience, and history with the Fund Office.
Ms. O’Brien has worked with the Fund Office since 2002 and has held several important positions during this time, including Director of Administrative Services since 2017. She is a skilled professional who obtained both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees while working for the Fund Office, and also holds a Certified Employees Benefits Specialist (“CEBS”) designation, which is co-sponsored by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (“IFEB”) and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
The Board of Trustees issued the following statements in response to Ms. O’Brien’s appointment to Executive Director and Mr. Stewart’s retirement:
“We believe that Ms. O’Brien possesses the combination of a deep knowledge of the Funds, and a dedication to teamwork, accountability and effective communications, that are essential for running a successful Fund Office.”
“We are grateful to Mr. Stewart for the leadership he has provided to the Funds during his tenure and wish him well on his upcoming retirement.”
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the NYCDCC Benefit Funds would like to welcome Kristin O’Brien as the new Executive Director and wish Dave Stewart a happy and healthy retirement!
