Effective January 1, 2026, Mount Sinai Physicians, Hospitals, and Facilities Will No Longer Be In-Network for Independence Administrators/Anthem

January 5, 2026

The New York City District Council of Carpenters Benefit Funds (“NYCDCCBF”) has recently been notified that as of January 1, 2026, Mount Sinai physicians, hospitals, and facilities will no longer be considered “in-network” for the Welfare Fund’s coverage through Independence Administrators (“IA”)/Anthem. For those of our participants who are impacted by this change, you should note that, per New York law, you can continue to receive “in-network” coverage from Mount Sinai until March 1, 2026. However, after this date, you will need to switch to an “in-network” provider or be charged by Mount Sinai at the “out-of-network” rate.

If you are a current Mount Sinai patient and need assistance seeking a new “in-network” physician, hospital, or facility, please contact IA/Anthem directly at (833) 242-3330 or visit IA’s website at www.myIBXTPAbenefits.com.

To learn more about this situation and read Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQs”), please visit Anthem’s website at www.anthem.com/update/mountsinai.

UPDATE 1/13/26: Continuation of Care Request Forms

Members who are in the process of care must submit a Continuation of Care Request Form in order to have their care through Mt. Sinai through 3/1/2026.

  • If you’re currently in an ongoing course of treatment at Mount Sinai, Anthem will continue to provide in-network coverage under Continuity of Care guidelines. Examples of conditions that qualify for Continuity of Care include cancer, pregnancy, ongoing treatments for serious and complex conditions, including mental health and substance use disorders, urgent surgeries that are already scheduled, hospitalization, or treatment for terminal illness.

  • If you are in an ongoing course of treatment, you will be able to stay at Mount Sinai with your current doctor, and Anthem will continue to provide coverage under Continuity of Care guidelines.
    • If you qualify for Continuity of Care, you can seamlessly continue coverage with your doctor or hospital for 90 days after Mt. Sinai leaves the network or until the ongoing care treatment is completed.
    • Patients or their doctors can reach out to our customer service center with additional questions.

  • Examples of conditions that qualify for Continuity of Care include:
    • Currently hospitalized;
    • Ongoing treatments for serious and complex conditions, including mental health and substance use disorders;
    • Urgent surgeries that are already scheduled;
    • Care for pregnancy;
    • Treatments for terminal illness.

Members currently undergoing treatment can complete the continuation of care form included below as it relates to ongoing care with the recent Mt. Sinai termination. The form can be completed and sent back to IA through the Fund staff, or they can be mailed or faxed as noted on the PDF. This will allow us to confirm qualifications for continuity of care for members currently undergoing treatment.

If you have any questions regarding these forms, please contact the Fund Office at 800-529-FUND (3863) or 212-366-7373.
