It has been 20 years since the events of 9/11 occurred, yet the images of that day are still fresh in our minds and the repercussions for some are still being felt just as strongly as they were two decades ago. Thankfully, here at the heart of New York, we are a resilient community that has the ability to come together to recover, rebuild, remember, and push forward through even the worst times.
All of us will forever remember the great effort put forth and the support provided by first responders, volunteers, and both our current and retired NYCDCC members following the fateful events. Amid chaos and destruction, fear and sorrow, these individuals showed that there are heroes among us and there is always hope within ourselves and our communities.
We lost 18 of our own members that day, those whose names will always be remembered by the NYCDCC. We honor these brave souls by growing in numbers, skills, and strength each day. Our organization continues to stand with our members and their families, both past and present.
We will never forget!
